Hello Rita O. Christensen,
Today is World CML Day. This year’s motto is today, together and the entire CML community comes together to raise awareness on CML and the needs of patients. We celebrate the breakthroughs in treatment and management and also acknowledge what still needs to be done to make the best possible care available in all parts of the world.
This is why we also reaffirm our efforts today to improve the outcomes for CML patients wherever they live, by supporting CML education, local access to diagnostics and best possible treatment through the iCMLf programs.
Today, together we make a difference. Let’s recognise and celebrate this on 9/22.
“The iCMLf Diagnosis and Testing Grants Program and other projects of the International CML Foundation (including ERSAP) are the excellent and sometimes the only opportunities for the clinicians and laboratory scientists from many countries in the world to learn about modern ways of treating and diagnosing this disease from the well known experienced Centres of Excellence within the best clinics in the world. This results in indisputable benefits for the CML patients, their physicians and laboratory scientists globally.” (Dr Kotlyarchuk, Ukraine)
Today, together – share in World CML Day activities
Today on World CML Day hematologists and patient organisations around the world are carrying out varying activities to raise awareness on CML. These include patient meetings, CML conferences, the launch of a CML magazine, various social media activities and a bowling tournament.
On the occasion of World CML Day the CML Advocates Network has launched ‘CML Today’, a mobile adherence app available in multiple languages. The app supports patients to remind them to take their prescribed CML medication, to track their PCR test results and to connect with local support groups.
You will find the ‘CML Today’ app in the Apple App Store and in the Google PlayStore.
iCMLf website update–
Access new CML guidelines section
Part of the iCMLf’s commitment to enhancing patient care is to make sure CML information and education for physicians are easily available online. A new section on the iCMLf website provides you with a selection of relevant international CML guidelines to assist in the management of CML patients.
These guidelines include European LeukemiaNet recommendations for the management of CML, NCCN Clinical Practice Guidelines in Oncology: CML version and the International BFM Group (iBFM): Managing children with CML 2014.
You can access the guidelines section here.
Best regards,
Your iCMLf team
