The 2025 Rowley Prize

The iCMLf is delighted to announce that Professor Satu M Mustjoki, Professor of Translational Hematology at the University of Helsinki, has been awarded the 2025 Rowley Prize. This iCMLf award, named in honor of Janet Rowley, recognises individuals who have made exceptional lifetime contributions to advancing the understanding of the biology of CML. Professor Mustjoki’s groundbreaking research in CML immunology and her pioneering discoveries in translational hematology have profoundly shaped the field and enhanced our understanding of immune responses in CML.

The 2025 Goldman Prize

Dr. Delphine Rea, has been awarded the prestigious 2025 Goldman Prize in recognition of her exceptional contributions to the field of CML. The iCMLf Goldman Prize is one of the highest honors in CML research and treatment, celebrating individuals whose dedication and achievements have profoundly shaped the management of the disease. A distinguished hematologist based at Hôpital Saint-Louis in Paris, France, Dr. Rea's groundbreaking work has significantly advanced both clinical practice and research, making a lasting impact on the lives of people with CML worldwide.

The 2025 iCMLf Prize is awarded to Professor Nicholas Anthony Othieno-Abinya, an eminent hemato-oncologist from Nairobi for his exceptional dedication to CML care in Kenya and beyond. This unique iCMLf award acknowledges individuals who have made outstanding contributions to improving CML treatment and care in low- and middle-income countries. Professor Abinya’s unwavering dedication to advancing CML care, his pioneering contributions to hematology and oncology in Kenya, and his commitment to mentoring future medical professionals make him a truly deserving recipient of this Prize.

"Prof. Abinya has overseen the most efficient medical access program in Africa, ensuring CML patients in Kenya have access to tyrosine kinase inhibitors since 2002. He remains the undisputed father of oncology in Kenya."
