This included; data on the use of dasatinib in children and adolescents, new data comparing bosutinib with imatinib in frontline therapy and the 24-month results from the British Destiny Study.

Top CML stories from EHA 2017

We are pleased to provide you with three stories featuring key CML studies presented at the oral presentations on clinical studies in CML.

• Dasatinib may be considered a new standard of care for pediatric patients with CML-CP
  Findings from a large prospective trial with pediatric patients suggest that dasatinib provides benefits to children and adolescents in chronic phase CML who are resistant /intolerant to imatinib.

• Bosutinib appears to be an appropriate new frontline treatment option for CML
  First results from the BEFORE trial comparing bosutinib to imatinib in a first-line setting demonstrate that the study met its primary endpoint with a significantly higher 12-month MMR rate for bosutinib versus imatinib.

• Initial reduction of therapy before complete withdrawal improves the chance of successful treatment discontinuation in CML
  With a recurrence-free rate of 76%, the 24 month findings of the British DESTINY study showed better results than in comparable studies, which may be an effect of a stepwise tyrosine kinase inhibitor withdrawal after initial dose reduction.
