Dr Kotlyarchuk was supported by the John Goldman Fund in 2015to attend the John Goldman Conference on CML in Estoril. He presented his poster on ‘Pregnancy in chronic myeloid leukemia – an analysis of 19 cases’ during the interactive clinical poster walks.

His home institution in Ukraine, the Institute of Blood Pathology and Transfusion Medicine (NAMS) in Lviv was supported by an iCMLf Diagnosis & Testing grant in 2014 to train laboratory staff to set up a CML laboratory. The acquired skills and experience were implemented that at the institute, which enabled the introduction of molecular PCR monitoring of CML patients in the Western region of Ukraine. Testing is currently being performed with acceptablenumbers of copies of the control genes, which is a great success.


Current position and educational background:
Dr Kotlyarchuk now serves as a Research Associate at the Department of Hematology at the Institute of Blood Pathology and Transfusion Medicine (NAMS) in Lviv (Ukraine). He has earned his medical education at the Danylo Halytsky Lviv State Medical University in Lviv and also received a specialization and advanced trainings in hematology.

Current research interests:

  • Treatment, monitoring and prognosis of chronic myeloid leukemia
  • Management of chronic myeloid malignancies and multiple myeloma
  • Molecular monitoring of minimal residual disease in CML
