We are delighted that over 100 physicians from 21 countries attended this year´s iCMLf Forum for Physicians from Emerging Economic Regions. This annual event is held during the American Society of Hematology meeting.
This year´s iCMLf Forum for Physicians from Emerging Economic Regions will be held from 4-6pm on December 6th during the American Society of Hematology meeting (ASH) in New Orleans. The meeting provides a unique opportunity for physicians from these regions to share and discuss best practice in a resource limited setting.
The 15th International Conference on CML: Biology and Therapy took place in Estoril, Portugal, from September 26-29, 2013. This leading international CML meeting was again co-sponsored by the iCMLf and the European School of Haematology (ESH). The conference being chaired by John M Goldman (UK), J. Cortes and Timothy P. Hughes (Australia) again focused on the latest up-dates on biology and clinical research and current therapeutic approaches.
ERSAP Clinical Preceptorship Program 2014 open for applications
The Emerging Regions Support and Partnership (ERSAP) Clinical Preceptorship Program 2014 is now open for applications. The intention of this educational program is to enhance the knowledge of physicians treating patients with CML in emerging regions. Preceptorships combine practical experience, one-to-one tuition, seminars and laboratory work.
The iCMLf invites physicians from emerging economic regions to submit abstracts outlining the successful implementation of projects that have improved their management of CML. Selected abstracts will be awarded an iCMLf grant of up to US$5,000 and be presented at the 2013 iCMLf Forum for Physicians from Emerging Regions.
In July 2012 the iCMLf invited the submission of abstracts to recognise and share the work and achievements of physicians treating CML in resource limited situations. We were delighted to receive 26 abstracts outlining projects that enhanced patient care. Abstracts were submitted from 16 countries so were wide ranging in topic. They covered everything from facilitating access to therapy, forming a CML clinic, to creating an iPhone application to track CML treatment. Three of these abstracts were awarded a $5,000 grant and presented at the 2012 iCMLf Fourm for physicians from emerging economic regions.
In an effort to spread knowledge and examples of effective CML management in low resourse settings we are pleased to share all the abstracts on the iCMLf website. We welcome further comment and any questions for the authors.
Over 100 physicians attended the 2012 annual 'iCMLf Forum for Physicians from Emerging Economic Regions'. Held during the annual American Society of Hematology meeting (ASH) and in partnership with the Max Foundation (MAX), this iCMLf Forum is an ideal opportunity for physicians from these regions to meet and discus the challenges they face treating CML in a resource limited setting. The 2012 iCMLf Forum specifically focused on three examples of solutions implemented to address these challenges and projects were presented from India, Paraguay and Sri Lanka.
